mkfs.ext2 {{/dev/sdb1}}
Create an ext3 filesystem in partition 1 of device b (sdb1):
mkfs.ext3 {{/dev/sdb1}}
Create an ext4 filesystem in partition 1 of device b (sdb1):
mkfs.ext4 {{/dev/sdb1}}
